Default Heating System is full of water !!

Having discovered a wet passenger foot well I took the heater motor out to see if there was any water in there. Once I had removed the motor I found all the plastic housings to be swimming with rain water.

My car is an 855 GLT. It has no air con.

There must be some drainage for the heater system, but I can't find any such pipe.

Where has all the water come from?
Why will it not go?
I really want to solve this one without having to take it to the dealers, I'm still suffering from a crankshaft oil seal and four new discs. I'm sure I can crack this one on my own, with some help from you guys!

Help!

Cheers,
John.

Just to save any hassle, I've sorted it all by myself!

If anyone's interested, there's a drain tube at the bottom of the ventelation system, under the dash. The nipple at the bottom was blocked. I unblocked it and gallons of water sloshed out. I managed to get the tube back on, so most of it landed on the drive.

Hi ya,

Yes if you look there are quite a few drain pipes in our cars and its worth pouring water down them occasionally to make sure they all function. Don't forget the ones in the sun roof as these run to the front and back down the pillars.

Can you tell me more about where these are?

The drain tube for the heating system is under the centre console. The easiest way to get to it is from the driver's side. Remove the trim panel under the steering wheel, carefully peel back the carpet, unclip and move back the black plastic housing. You'll then see the rubber tube that runs from the bottom of the white heater system housing into the floor.

I dunno where, exactly, the sun roof one is.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

John.

Hi ya,

The sunroof comes down the 'a' piller and then into one of the two tubes located on eitherside of the bulkhead, the other being the wiper cover drainer.

Thanks folks, I had already found the two either side of the bulkhead under the bonnet, one was blocked which surprised me as it was a fairly large diameter
