Rear bumper issue.
Evening, everyone. Apologies if this is in the wrong section, I have only just joined the owners club after finally getting my hands on my dream 1989 245 dl estate. Its a great 3 owner from new car, not mint but a great tidy old car in good shape for its age...better than me! Having issues trying to find a top left hand trim from the back bumper which is missing on my car. Ebay just comes up with USA dealers and nothing much in the UK? It could be that the part has a specific name of which I don't know, so not many out there or maybe there just are not many out there? If anyone knows the correct name for it (like an L shape bit of black plastic, some had a chrome strip on later models) I would be very grateful, or if anyone know of someone that has one, doesn't have to be perfect, that would be a great help as well. Many thanks Dave (Ned)

Ned:~
generally known as "hockey stick trims" for the bumper corners- some are all black as yours, some are black with chrome. They do come up on ebay so this may be worth watching, you could also place a wanted advert in the 240 appropriate section. Ashley classics (Manchester-Sale) are a breakers and very useful for parts-also on ebay but I believe mainly Facebook. Lakes are another breaker for Volvo. I'm sure other members will give you some leads. Good luck with the car-you will love it! Regards Bob. |

Further to the excellent advice,
It's worth removing them and replacing the rusty trim fasteners that hold them on. Think there is 3-4 fixing each side. I bought them from FRF Volvo Swansea years ago when I had a 240. They are over a £1 a clip. Hockey trims are sought after! I also used a blob of clear silicone to bed them to the bumper cover as an extra measure. When I sold, years later all trims intact! James |
