Broken headlight
Has anyone had this problem before ??
The bulb blew in my nearside headlight and when I changed it I noticed that the light unit "rocks" up and down, I can't see anything obviously broken. At night the light points staight down at the road. Is there a part which can be changed light the aim adjustment or something ? or do I neen a new light :( Thanks in advance Si 850 GLT '92 115k |

RE: Broken headlight
It may sound obvious but have you re seated the bulb correctly.I had a similar problem with mine and when I checked it again I had failed to push the new bulb correctly into place and replace the wire clip.

RE: Broken headlight
Hi ya,
I agree it sounds like you haven't seated the bulb correctly, this is normally a problem on the driverside due to access problems. mark.

RE: Broken headlight
Thanks for your ideas, I have checked the new bulb and the retaining spring is fitted in OK. The whole unit moves, if I look through the front of the light I can see the reflector/lense move up and down. I am starting to prepare myself for a shock when I price a light ! Might take it to my local specialist tomorrow and see what they think. Si |

Yup, it's bust and a new unit will be around the ton mark, I'm afraid.
You could try a breaker of course, or wait until the National and hope there's a matching lens in the autojumble. |

RE: Broken headlight
checked the dealer for a price, they want £130.77 plus VAT !!
I will keep looking. Changing the light looks straight forward, as long as I can get the bonnet lock back in the right place ! Si |

RE: Broken headlight
EURO carparts have quoted me exactly the same price (to the penny!) for a new light.
Does anybody know of a Volvo breakers yard ? Thanks Si |

CP Motors in Poole? are usually good for this sort of thing, they advertise in 'Driver' but if you're not a VOC member I'll get the contact details for you.

Thanks Alex, I would be really grateful for those contact details.
I might become a VOC member soon, I haven't joined yet because I don't know how long I will be a volvo owner for ! Si |
