When starting off, after a few hundred yards I get a 'woomph' noise which seems to come from the front nearside in the vicinity of the front nearside wheel/suspension. Any ideas as to what it might be...?

Hello,

Don't know the answer but I think I get the same noise from my 850se est. Every time the car has been parked and left and then left, when you next set off after a hundred yards or so you get a noise that sounds like snow dropping off the mud flap and getting flattened by the tyre ?? don't it for the past 6 months since we bought it and I've just accepted it seen as it's past an mot and been serviced.

Good to know if anyone else has these strange noises ??

Cheers,

Craig

Stephen,

I think that the noise you can hear is the ABS system doing its self test routine. It does this when the car first passes 20 mph after starting up. Hope this helps.

Neil.

Yes, mine does this, although it appear to come from the rear (estate), it is the ABS self test.

That explains it. It does always happen after the car hits 20 mph and I looked in the handbook and sure enough it mentions the ABS test at 20 mph !

Cheers fellas.
