Angry Volvo 480 Celebration Abs Problem

My ABS light shines continually after a speed of 20-25mph. My Volvo 480 Celebration has covered 128,000 miles and I bought it with 11,000 on the clock in 1998.THE ABS light comes on simultaneously when the gasses are released from the catalytic convertor. On starting the car the light comes on and then goes off as it should. I have found that if I hit the brake pedal hard before 20mph the ABS system functions and the light does not come on at all for the entire time the engine is running but this action does not help my tyres!! After engaging the ABS however, I have noticed that there is no sound then submitted from the catalytic convertor. The car has been diagnostically checked by VOLVO and no codes were revealed. Prior to this the four wheel sensors had been cleaned thoroughly as the light had come on 20,000 miles ago and the code revealed the back right sensor which, when cleaned, had eliminated the problem, Volvo said it was probably an electrical fault but they said it could take ages to find and I cannot afford their prices! My local garage and Volvo said it was just a coincidence that the light came on when the cat goes whoosh but it does it everytime. Has anyone else experienced this problem? It is driving me crazy!!
