Default 1800 Rear hub nut

Hello all

At the weekend I carried out one of the jobs on my list and that was to inspect the state of my rear brakes on my 1800S. I had a devil of a time with the hub nut mainly because I didn't have a big enough socket and had to use an ill fitting open spanner. This worked eventually without any undue damage, but can anyone tell me what the socket size for the hub nut is for the future please?

As this was also my first experience with getting the rear drums off, I have to report that it went well using a hydraulic puller, but the bang when the drum gave way - Wow! Even though I was expecting it, it made me jump on both occasions.

Simon;

Socket size for Drum Nut is: 1 1/4"

The bang when they release can be startling, and cause neighbors to call the police to report "shots fired" depending on your neighborhood (and neighbors!)...but I'm glad to hear it went well...Drum removal, when difficult, is often a subject of threads of near exasperation on the forum...see also: http://www.sw-em.com/Brake_Drum_Notes.htm

Cheers

I think Sweden was metric in the 50s but made their cars imperial as the Amazon came out and in particular the B18 engine. (My 1955 444KS was entirely metric.)
Something to do with where they sold most of them...
