VW parts are horrendous - factor in questionable reliability of everything they've made since the old 1.9TDi went out of production and that puts me off any of their cars. And from the Volkswagens I've cleaned interior quality is actually not very good at all. Can't speak for the new Touareg because I haven't valeted one yet but the carpets are the worst quality on the market in Volkswagens, especially compared to the gorgeous plush carpets in Volvos, BMW etc. Cleaning a VW is like trying to hoover velcro. It tears itself to pieces and all the debris gets stuck in the pile.

Plus, Volvos are just a much nicer place to spend time. Every VW I've sat in has felt like a dingy dark pit of plastic, and every VW I've sat in beyond 5 years old had very obvious signs of wear. Smooth plastics peel and fade, and piano black gets horribly scratched. That's all very well in a cheap-as-chips used Vauxhall s***box but the prices you pay to buy (and run) a VW you'd expect something that looks a bit nicer. Meanwhile I cleaned a 200,000 mile Volvo 740 from 1986 and the interior was like new. No cracks or scuffs in sight.

Mind you, precisely none of what I've just said means dick if you don't keep your cars more than a few years, so each to their own.

I've had a VW about 6 months now, I think it's great.

Does anyone else care about not wanting to give VW their money also, after all the emissions scandal?

Personally for that reason I won't get an Audi / VW / Seat / Skoda etc.. Why reward a company that behaves in that manner?

I seriously considered a Skoda Octavia/Superb as an alternative to the V60 I eventually got. But there were a few bits I didn't like. The main thing though was not trusting them or the whole group.

I had a Golf GTD as a hire car a few weeks ago, whilst very impressive in almost every regard (except the half a tank to do 250 odd miles), it simply wasn't desirable and something I would look back at as I walk away from it. Likewise with a Golf GTI I looked at a few years ago.

2015 I bought a new car for nine thousand dollars which when
new cost one hundred thousand dollars including on road costs

aussie money

2002 C70 looking how I like it looking, drives tough, tough to drive toughly

You see this country can't do anything so survives on tax and selling assets
So I put a new roof did the brakes, mechanicals hosed it out got it schmick
and that's about as deep into my pockets as the criminals are going to get

Oh and to limit my financial debilitation to vulvo for parts to ₪148 shekels
All parts from the original manufacturers, with volva identification castings
ground off for only ½ the price including post to the lucky country via USA

The brake wheel engine control systems already more than I will ever need

as far as the peoples car company telling lies just like everybody else who
cares if you like the car get it, just try be patient and wait about ten years

Countries hey, if they were a business they'd be in jail

"Good afternoon happy diver, I have your medication for you, it's nap time"

and to volvopete81 be a patient yours is coming too
