when did the d5 engine change & CO2 emissions

I'm getting confused in my search for a used D5 XC90.
It apears that there are two versions, 163 and 185bhp, and that the change over was around 2007? Is it true that the 185bhp version is also the only version to dip under the 225 g of CO2? How do I know which engine a prospective purchase has? thanks!

Not all the 185bhp engines had the 224 emission level; I think most, but not all MY2009 D5s had the lower emissions.

My XC90 is MY'07 purchased October '06, is 185bhp and is rated 239g/km.

Just bought 12 months RFL at a cost of £405.

The only way to really check what the car you are looking at has is to ask to look at the V5 document.

XC90 D5 185 was introduced in 2005 (IIRC on the 55 plate).

The 224g/km D5 185bhp engine was introduced in build week 21 2008 and covered late MY2008 (except R Design and Exec models) and all MY2009 (except early R Design and Exec models) cars, I was told that week 21 was the last week in May 2008.

I recd this info from Volvo UK when I was buying my MY2009 XC90 in March this year.
