Default Volvo first service date?

We know that the first service for a XC60 (MY19) is the earlier of 12 months or 18,000 miles. The Volvo website says this much.

But does it say anywhere whether this 12 month period runs from the date the the vehicle was first manufactured or first registered?

The DVLA registration check for our vehicle states a "Date of last V5C (logbook) issued - 20 March 2019". We took delivery of the car on that date too.

I ask, as the service reminder on our new XC60 has been irritating us for several weeks now but a service is not due yet.

It is from date of registration. The system flags it up early so you can get it booked in in good time. The reminder can be a little annoying I know but I soon became used to it.

Was your XC60 pre-registered by the dealer before you bought it as the first private owner? In which case your V5 may be the second one issued.

Similarly, servicing date is (I'm told) triggered by the PDI date being entered onto the Volvo system by the preparing dealer which may have been some weeks before the car actually became yours?

Either way I wouldn't worry as its your 'first registered' date that dictates things like warranty expiry etc going forward, just make sure that the 12month/18k mile is kept aligned if possible.

Thank you for the great clarification.

I have booked in the first year's service for 19 March 2020.

No point getting it done sooner!

The alert is annoying. You would think with the VOC app, if booking a service by the main dealer, they could push through the booking details to the car. Then maybe it would come up with a prompt again a few days before.

Is it true that the service can be booked for any time within 30 days after the specified date that is 12 months from first registration?
