she works!
So, JP called over this afternoon and had a fiddle around with the wiring and turns out the switch was wired incorrectly and after a bit of a cable tidy up, we took her out for a spin. what a difference, motorway driving is transformed revs are below 3k now at 120kph, so you can actually have a conversation...
thanks JP, 940_Turbo, Mitch, Derek, Ron, and everyone else for your help and guidance.. that is the final upgrade i have on the to-do list.. now i can sit back and pretty her up. ok, maybe one or two more mods... ;o) links of special note for this build are: - http://www.vclassics.com/archive/odconv.htm http://www.sw-em.com/OD_Retrofitting.htm http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=151223 http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...ight=overdrive http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthr...-ready-to-swap http://www.redlinecarparts.com/#qkt1...-p-488965.html and of course the green books from http://www.volvoamazonpictures.se/do...manuals_en.php |

and my m40 live to fight another day
so, after a few weeks of driving my m41, i love it. my fuel consumption has gone down slightly, which is great in light of the expected fuel price increases..
on another note, which is really great, i managed to offload my old M40, bell-housing speed and other bits and pieces off to a chap who is restoring a 1936 BMW 328 special. apparently the Volvo M40 is a standard upgrade on these cars, as it is the same size, but is stronger and has synchro.. a pic of the type of car so, i have overdrive, an old BMW gets an upgrade and my shed is clear of parts.. sometimes it all just works out.. |

Who would have thought? I see a raft of old Volvo owners advertising M40's on BMW forums from now on...
Glad to hear its working out Gareth. I am a bit envious I must say, maybe someday I will follow. Hugh
