Default which oil

What would be best for my refurbished B20b. Have been using Millers classic mineral oil in my B16. Is his suitable for B20?

I normally use Castol 20w50 'classic oil' in my B20... or the Halford's classic oil you can get here in the UK.

Decent Millers 20w50 should be OK, but try to make sure it's got a Zinc additive put in - saves on wear to the push-rods etc.

Genuine Volvo oil filter (non-return valve prevents oil starvation on start up), change the oil and filter on a regular basis (do mine every 2000 miles or so) and you'll get years of faithful service from your engine.

Not normally a problem with the push-rods but the zinc helps look after the cam to cam follower interface.

I think the Millers 20/50 has a decent amount of zinc, not checked, but if you have a source close to you, fine to use it. Will be quite expensive I expect but yearly changes, say, aren't much of a drag on the wallet.

REPSOL MIXFLEET 20W50 has 1.2%/12.000ppm of zinc so for you might be worth considering. Talk to Repsol?

The following's a personal choice, but wholly recommend Valvoline VR1 20W50. It's a little more expensive than some others, have used this in many classic engines and it's superb, has very good zinc properties and is very resistant to oil breakdown from high temps. I normally buy from Opie Oils and have delivered direct to home but it's also available from a number of reputable online suppliers

I have used a Halfords filter (same as Ford Pinto OHC engine apparently) and the oil light goes out before it fires. No problem with oil starvation!

Default Engine oil

In the US, many use diesel engine grade oil. It has the wear additives you need for solid lifters.
