I have been asking questions about my amazon engine here since I bought the car.I was told the car had a later engine from a 1968 car but until today have not seen the numbers to match.

my engine is 496837 and one of the suppliers lists that engine as B18B 115C from a 144.
Does this make any sense?

Yes, I believe that's correct. According to the info I have, that number indicates that the engine is either from a 142S, 144S or 145S.
