We have Stoneacre in Sheffield although it’s not explicitly obvious that’s who are the franchise owners. I only discovered this when looking at ordering a new XC40 in 2020 they were so disinterested and when I saw the finance documents headed with the Stoneacre logo I immediately got cold feet. One good thing that came from the lockdown was the delayed order which allowed me to look elsewhere at stock new vehicles which I ended up buying from Clive Brook in Huddersfield, who were superb. I also looked at Riverside Doncaster who were also great and would use them for servicing if the Stoneacre site wasn’t so convenient, however that comes at a cost namely extras which they try to add on such as air conditioning treatments, brake fluid replacement at two years old (even though the fluid in use was within specification), etc etc. The staff on site are fine it’s the call centre pests that are the problem. Maybe when the 5year service plan is up I’ll look further afield.

Have heard good things about Clive Brook too, but Doncaster is on my way from home to work so always works out well. They know me and I know them too.

I am booked to go and see an EX30 at Clive Brook in Bradford in November so will be interesting to see what kind of feeling I get from them.

I also hear great stuff about Ray Chapman in York and Malton too.

Clive Brook Volvo were recently bought out by Ray Chapman motors after Clive Brook retired. Most if not all of the staff have remained and the two franchises had a very similar feel about them when I was looking so that should be a good thing.

When Riverside Doncaster was being refurbished a lady had taken her XC60 to Stoneacre Sheffield for servicing, I assume out of warranty, as the proposed repair operations were “enhanced “ (her words not mine). She really tore a strip off the service manager!!

I swapped the Stoneacre numberplates on my car for Clelands ones as A) Stoneacre drilled theirs crooked so they looked rubbish and B) I didn't want to advertise Stoneacre because their call centre people hard selling nonsense extras after I bought my car annoyed the hell out of me.

This is my experience too, to the extent that when my service was due I’d drop by and book in with them face to face to avoid the call centre.

This year I’m having my 1st service at riverside Doncaster because a) they were good when in bought the car last October, b) you speak to/email a real person and c) courtesy cars are free. Worth the trip!

The sales manager when we last visited Stoneacre Sheffield a few years ago was quite rude and I wouldn’t revisit. I also got plagued by their contact centre and had to ask them to remove my details.

We bought our first XC60 four years ago from Riverside Doncaster and more recently our latest one from Leeds. Both were excellent to deal with and Doncaster service department are very good too and go out of their way to help.

On point c above. Yes car is free, provided you use your own insurance (which I always do). Using their insurance is I think 10 or 15 quid a day.

Courtesy cars are all XC40s now.

I had an XC40 recharge the last time I was in which was quite a nice thing to tool about in for the day.
