Deary me!! I'm going to have to get the old lug 'oils cleaned out! I take it that there are 2 controllers that control the odd/even cylinders then? He said something like that... it was before 9am, no coffee consumed... hot day.... naked lady calenders.... you know!

How much do you want for the pair?

Are these the plugs?

Thanks again, Tom

Whereas no faults came up, he did detect a slight misfire – something I had not noticed. We’re thinking that a new set of plugs and leads should sort things, but to be sure I have booked it in on Tuesday for him to give Tucker the once over…

Also, like a doughnut I have misplaced my insurance envelope. Not a problem I know, but it had the effin V5 document in it. Ive sent off for another one today.

Gordon from the 1800 section has dibs. I'm just waiting on the results of Tuesday to get a clear picture on where we stand. Ill update this after then.

Have a nice weekend folks.

Tom
I hope its not the Volvo 'specialist' near the casino. The main guy there is a doddery old plank. When I first got my 960 I rang up to get a price for a service. After being asked engine size and transmission (2.5 manual), I was informed by him that there wasn't a 2.5 only a 3l, and it must be an auto as they are all autos. I argued with him for some time about this, I was shocked at what an idiot he was to be arguing with someone about what size and transmission their vehicle was. There was also another incident with my dads T6. T6 he said with a puzzled look on his face? "Do you mean T5? there isn't a T6" He also refers loads of his work to another garage that I have since changed to (saw him up there once, and asked my new mechanic what he was doing there!).

I second that.

I've nothing against people being old and doddery, but this chap is not knowledgable about Volvos. I don't have specific examples like yoda960, but I called there a few years back to ask about something on my first 240. I can't recall what the issue was now, but I remember being shocked that the 'specialist' knew a lot less than me about such a ubiquitous Volvo model, so I left and never went back.

John

PS this 960 looks nice - surprised it's not already been snapped up!

These chaps I have delt with and although top dollar are TRUE independant specialist. Who I would trust any of my five Volvos to without a thought. They did a sterling job when I broke down and had me on the road again in four hours.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for giving me first dibs on the car.
Circumstances have changed a bit as I have since found via eBay an aftermarket cat exhaust section for our old car that's less than half the price of my usual parts supplier.
It's just worth my while pushing our old barge through another years MOT so I'll have to bow out on this one (unless it blows a head gasket!).
I think yours is a great car and it won't be long before a buyer comes along.
Thanks for being so straight up about everything.

Cheers,

Gordon

Thanks Gordon.

Thought I best update this following my trip to the garage. (the miserable b@$7ard that he was)

I left it with him today to give it a look over. He must have done the fault checks again and something came up relating to a dicky air flow sensor. Following him clearing the fault, the car drives fine, but does not hold an idle and looks like a new one is needed. Nice one. He also noticed a small 1 1/2 inch crack in the exhaust pipe to the back of the car.

It was of his opinion that a new MAF would set everything right.

This said the car is still for sale with the aforementioned issues to take into account. I am going to reflect this in the price and am open to reasonable offers. Im around this weekend if anyone wants to come over.

Tom

WEHEYYYY Tucker drives again!!!!

As I never had the fob, neither did the chap before me - but I've had an auto electrician professionally bypass this,

Problem he doesn't hold idle. Someone come with £650 and he's yours. All is needed is maybe a proper MAF (ebay one i got was junk) and a proper service and youve got your self a bargain!!!
