Question Clutch Slipping before 20k miles?

My '12 S40 D4 R Design is showing signs of clutch slipping with about 19,500 miles on the clock. Reading the other posts about this is scary, like I should not be surprised. Could it be? What about the idea that the DSTC will 'pulse' under hard acceleration (according to owner's manual) if it senses that one of the driving wheels is about start skidding. The reason I ask is that this problem only started after we had the winter tyres swapped for summer ones (at Volvo dealer). Oddly enough also started having problems with the cruise control acceleration intermittently cutting out when using the + button - maybe also sensing impending wheelspin. If the tyres are slightly different diameters on the front wheels, the the DSTC might interpret this as a potential skid and take control?
