RE: Heated oxygen sensor
In my patchy knowledge from my RS2000 days the lambda sensors are directly in the manifiold just before the fuel injection and only work when the engine is cold and completley remove themselves from use when the engine's warm. They have something to do with the cat and emissions when cold. So if ur not bothered about the enviroment i may be tempted to leave it. But dont quote me on that.

RE: Heated oxygen sensor
IIRC they are usually mounted in the front part of the catalyser. An incorrectly reacting O2 sensor usually means that the cat may be destroyed by incorrect fuel/air mix. All the best, Peter |

RE: Heated oxygen sensor
Other way around, they work when hot. Early ones weren't heated and took longer to warm up. Modern ones are heated to get them working quiker.
Fuel consumption will suffer if its broken. Modern ECU's rely heavily on the lambda sensor. Could be time to replace it. www.lambdasensor.com are good. Go for genuine bosch ones. |
