Default 2007 C70 Wont Start

Went out to my C70 today pressed the remote and totally got no response

Slipped out key blade and opened car

Put key blade back in and put the whole thing in the ignition slot

NUFFFFIN

Key would not now come out of course

Opened bonnet and got out my battery charger

Connected it and it said 0V for the battery

As my V70 is now off the road for the winter its battery was available

Used the jump leads and the C70 came alive PHEW!!!

I was driving the car the other day and it was running fine the only thing I did that may have discharged the battery was unlike what I do normally I left my USB charger in the Cig Light Socket but I thought that was OK as it was not active unless the ignition was on

Also when I first connected the V70 battery to the C70 the radio came on

Also when I open the door the bottom text part of the instrument panel (miles etc) comes alive for a minute or so I have not timed this. It does the same when I slide in the key but for much less time

Charged both batteries connected together until the C70 one was about 10V

Then swapped batteries putting the recently charged V70 one in the C70

Reconnected battery charger

Everything works apart from the starter motor

When I try to start the C70 I get a MMMMMM noise but no activation of the starter motor

HELLLLLLP PLEASE

NO they are fine and the V70 battery is new and at 13V

also even with the ignition on I cant get the gear-lever out of Park

SO should inserting the key and pressing the brake pedal unlock the gear lever park lock????

V70 Battery is NEW only a few months old and the starter is not engaging and operating so the battery is not being put under any load

does the steering lock disengage ?

If it were a Ford 2.0D engine i would say the problem was the ECU has lost it's memory and needs a reload , that was a known problem after sitting with a flat battery for a day or so ., but not on the volvo 2.4 engine ECU ...

YES just inserting the key into the ignition hole unlocks the steering wheel lock (no need to turn it) So the key and the lock antennae are working - I do have two keys as well and I can hear the solenoid activating as well

The alarm works IF I use the key blade to open the door BUT NOT if I open the bonnet

I thought there was a bonnet open sensor IN fact I know there is as I had a bonnet open message when I was looking at things before

Just checked again and yes I get a bonnet open message with the bonnet open and ignition on

I read that this bonnet sensor could be the cause of the indicators not flashing when alarm/central locking remote operated BUT my bonnet sensor seems to be working fine.

GRRRRRRRR and it is three degrees C in my drive according to the C70 of course

One Touch Windows are not working

QUESTION Does the engine need to be running for One Touch Windows to work???

With the window down and alarm on I can stick my head in the car and I dont get an alarm

QUESTION I am NOT sure if this is an OK situation as car is convertible and I have in the past parked locked and alarmed her with the top down???

When I lock and alarm the car with the remote - the LED on both doors by the door lock stays illuminated - only noticing this now as it is dark o'clock

Brake lights are working so this ({non} faulty switch) cant be stopping the gear lever being locked in park

QUESTION Does the engine have to be running to get the gear lever out of park or is ignition on and foot on the brake enough ???

I was going to disconnect the battery overnite and when I did that with the car locked and alarmed the alarm went off

So battery is disconnected with car locked manually

I will report on any progress tomorrow I guess a phone call to VOLTECH is on the cards
