Default Air Quality Sensor and CCM issue - facelift models

Owners of facelift V70 – XC70’s (2005- 2007 and possibly XC90’s) may find this useful if you have an Air Quality Sensor issue – and have other CCM issues – they may be connected.

I have a 2006 XC70 D5 which I have owned since 2008. It has had the CCM-0040 - Air Quality sensor Internal fault for several years – I was advised that it would cause no harm and to leave it as it would cause no issues.

However, I’ve noticed that the temperature control has increasingly become unresponsive – with little intermediate adjustment between hot and cold.
Recalibrating the CCM with Vida didn’t improve the temperature response but I noted a CSC (customer service complaint) in Vida resulting from a faulty Air Quality Sensor was a lack of response from the temperature control. So it seemed reasonable to see if replacing the AQS would solve the temperature issue.

I removed the old one (other threads relating to AQS on here on how to do it) and found the original part number to be 30676508. It appears Volvo would like to remove a rather large amount of money from my wallet to supply a replacement AQS with this part number. The cheap Chinese parts don’t seem to work with the facelift V70 and XC70.

I eventually managed to find a replacement part for my original, supplied in a Herth+Buss Elparts (German supplier of parts) box – when opened it contained a Hella unit with the part number 6PX 012 684-061 - delivered for £65.

Fitted the new AQS and then recalibrated the CCM with Vida – the fault code (CCM-0040) cleared and the temperature control now works fine again.

The part was supplied by ‘Worldcarparts’ an online parts business based in Lincolnshire - https://www.worldcarparts.co.uk/air-...U?bSearch=true
If the website shows out of stock – ring them – they were able to get me the part to my door within 4 working days.

Unplug the sensor.
Do a CCM recalibration using Vida.
