Default hazard light blink continuously

Hi Folks,
Anybody with this issue? Or any Idea how to find the issue?
Car is locked and parked. Randomly hazard lights start blinking and at some point (I don’t know how long)stop working.
Couple of times came back to the car and hazard lights were on.

Sounds like the alarm is going off, but the siren isn't working? Start by setting the alarm and deliberately setting it off, if the siren works then I'm wrong.

I'm for alarm problem as well...batteries in alarm siren leak and can ruin pcb inside...alarm will still work ie lights flash but no siren.
as Luxobarge suggested, deliberately set off alarm to check siren works or not
If caught early the batteries in siren can be replaced, plenty of videos on youtube for this...
New siren can be purchased but expensive

Same again for the alarm. I've had the same problem actually over a period of time.. many years. I've found my problem nearly always ties in with damp, wet, weather. My siren hasn't worked since I've had the car, 2008, so for sure its shot.

Something else that seems to tie in with wet weather is the alarm activation itself. No red led or a flash of the indicators when locking. Nice hot, dry, summer.. and the alarm (sans siren) started working again..

I would be 95% sure your bonnet switch is dirty and corroded, causing contact problems when it is wet or damp
Replace it (easy) and you will likely solve your problem.

Thanks very much for that tip, I appreciate it. Never considered that would cause that problem. I'm guessing its situated on the nearside catch, it looks like there's a wire leading to it. I had a quick look this morning and will investigate further when I get a minute.

I'll let you know if I have success..

Dave..

Flashing Indicator Lights: ~
I’ve had the same problem last year with the bonnet locks (97’ V70) removed both sides & cleaned them up – lubricated & copper greased.
The electrical connects also cleaned.
After completing the above they have been replaced just slightly lower (adjusted on the screws) greased all the bonnet locking bars with a result that the warning lights have remained off once the car is locked.
Regards Bob

The bonnet catch micro switch is also a common problem on the V40. One catch situated central behind the grille so gets all the wet and road dirt thrown at it. It is on my regular maintenance regime to give it a good clean and lube.
