Default Steering wheel shaking over 60mph

I'm looking at a 2008 s40 d5 .. spoke to the owner he says that the steering wheel is shaking when going over 60.. what does this mean ? Anything serious? Tracking or brakes?

Most likely wheels need balancing, or there is a tyre defect/damaged wheel.

Less likely but feasible is worn wheel bearing, sticking caliper or worn/damaged driveshaft.

Most likely wheels not balanced correctly.

Failing that it'll probably be a buckled wheel. Just had this sorted myself on my 18" medusas - 2 wheels buckled, got vibration at 70/80mph.

It might have been warm already. Mine isn't on long.
I put some new wheels on my car the other day and had the car shook over 60 mph. Took it to a ttyre place and interestingly they asked if the shake was through the car or steering wheel only. Apparently steering wheel only suggest front wheels need balancing or through the whole car means all may need balancing. Anyway £30 later and it all ran smooth. Could be a buckle if you are unlucky
