Dash pad question
Hello,
Yesterday I started with the body restoration of my PV544, and the dashboard pad looks like is short on the left hand side (please pictures). I don't know if somebody trimmed it for some reason or it shrunk (can the sun do that?). The other issue is that is really hard, is it like that originally or it's supposed to be soft like the modern ones? I would hate to buy a new one to end up with the same problem. If somebody could share a picture of a properly fitting dash pad I will be very grateful. Cheers Andres |

There should be a rubber "gaiter"at each end to cover the joint. A left and a right. In most cases they have been lost over the years as mine has. Very hard to find replacements. The top is padded. Will post pic' later.
OK here are pic's

Mine's a '64. I didn't realise yours was recovered, that looks perfect. I was referring to adarvasi's photo, which looks like leather cloth.

Thank you Acturus and Old Fart,
I will look into this rubber “gaiter” part, but f I understand correctly, the pad should go OVER that metal piece at the end. Correct? Mi dash is not recovered, it is hard plastic, What Lennart Johansson from VP Autoparts called a dash cap. In any event I will get a new one from VP which makes them “in original tooling. It is thermoformed foil and then filled with foam just like original. Original pad reaches in under the small caps to cover edge” Have great weekend Last edited by adarvasi; Feb 1st, 2019 at 13:17.
