Default V70 exhaust tip

Has anyone changed their exhaust tip on the V70 rdesign? My chrome one is constantly black due to the soot. Seen a few black satin ones on eBay that look good and may try and fit. I'm a bit OCD so the soot drives me mad and think the black tip would give it a good look.

I couldnt see my exhaust tip from normal viewing and decided it must have fallen off at some point, but after purchasing a new chrome one, I found that the exhaust tip didnt extend to the rear of my V70 but was short and pointed downwards towards the road. Is this normal on my model which was one of the first mk3 cars.

Add two stroke oil to your fuel at a ratio of 200:1(approx 330 cc to a full tank ) it causes soot particles to be burnt and reduces .emissions. I use it in my current Jaguar and used it on myV70 D5 for years. Makes engine smoother running as well.

Just added a ton of turbo cleaner to my tank so once that is done I will buy some.more 2 stroke oil. What one do you use? I did use Castrol f/s on my last V50 as I had about 20 bottles from my Motocross bike.

My 2011 D5 exhaust tips go black fairly quickly also. I'm putting it down to the cleaning stuff and maybe the wax out the wash and wax I use turning dark with heat and dirt also. It's not the emissions as it was " too clean" on the MOT this week to register anything. I may try an alternative cleaning product. I think cleaning reguarly is also a must.

That's strange - our 2011 D5 Polestar never sooted up the exhausts at all. Even the inside of the exhaust a couple of inches in from the tips was pristine. Once I'd polished the tips with autosol they never needed anything other than cleaning the road grime off with the wash mitt.
