Hi,

No harm doing a search on ebay to see what is doing the rounds these days.
Search for "a pillar gauge pod" and see what comes up..

Default Turbo boost.

What I cant understand about boosting the turbo pressure is this:

How can installing an MBC and a gauge in the air inlet pipe between the turbo and the Inlet Manifold increase the pressure? To my mind, the pipe is already running at 100% because it doesnt have(or shouldnt have) any restrictions.

I dont understand how the control valve and gauge is going to improve on this.

Can anyone explain what I am missing??

Having sifted through the Volvo accessory brochure last night it doesnt look as if there is.

There must be a pattern part somewhere.....

Hi,

The gauge tells you what pressure is being applied. So aids setting the correct boost level so as to achieve more power without blowing your engine up!

The MBC controls the pressure required to operate the actuator. The higher the pressure, the more boost is built up before being unleashed on the engine...

PS: Have merged the two topics as the subject is ultimately pretty similar..

Thanks again, Des, but Im not sure that I made my point clear enough.

How can the mbc increase the pressure when it should already be running at 100%?

How can the mbc produce more power than the unrestriced flow of air from the Inlet manifold? This must be 100% of what is already available, surely.

Im confused about this.Is there something thats is currently happening in the Turbo inlet pipe that the mbc will change? Is there some sort of restriction that an mbc will remove?

I appreciate the use of the boost gauge.

Thumbs up

Thanks very much Des.

I really appreciate your help one this one.

Is there any end to your patience????

The article you referred me to warrants being printed, to read a my leisure.

It seems, that I totally misunderstood how the turbo functions work.It seems that I was "running"things in the wrong direction!

Wouldnt it have looked slightly better in the blank space between the switches and the cooling control??
