Default Wired android auto steering controls

Hi guys

So up till now the only reason while I have been using and switched to Apple is because it just works

The Google maps screen doesn’t have 2 big directions boxes taking up 80% of the screen unlike in android auto and the steering controls all work with Spotify when playing on phone.

I really want this to work with android auto

The 2 issues that are really bugging me are the big direction boxes in Google maps while using android auto that literally cover up the whole screen over the map. Is there a way to smaller those down?

Secondly when I connect android phone to car via cable and play Spotify on my phone I can’t seem to skip tracks back and forward?

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

With maps I can probably find an alternative but with this audio track skipping issue I don’t have an alternative but to go back to using Apple phone and car play.

Android gives me more flexibility and would really like this to work.

Maybe I can play music through Bluetooth only and navigation through cable?

Any suggestions ideas advice?

Regards
Slapz

I don't know how the old system works or how to change Android auto as it just works in my old donkey with a cheap chinese head unit but for android you can buy remote media buttons

search amazon for bluetooth media remote for iphone and looks like there are plenty for that phone as loads come up

Use Waze on android auto, it's much better. And then use Spotify native on the car and track skips etc all work fine.

I do not find Waze has any advantage over Google maps as of course Waze is Google maps with a couple of extras which I personally generally find annoying.
Interestingly however I find that I can run both simultaneously with Waze on the centre screen and Google maps on the drivers display. They do however verbally clash frequently!
