Ok so done as suggested and swapped over the feed and return pipes with no joy still won't rev above 2200rpm if I try it just cuts out.

Last thing to try take the banjo off the pump and see if theres a mesh filter inside.

I checked that, no mesh.

The engine was running sweet in the other motor (97) so engine side is gotta be ok.

No, the cam tensioner had come loose & valve met piston. although I heard it was running fine before that, reliable source.

Check all your vacuum hoses but it sounds like you need live data done.

the vacuum (solenoid?) next to the maf clicks fast when the engine cuts out!

The one on the MAF goes to the turbo, and the one closest to the wing goes to the EGR.

is the turbo one connected properly?

I do think that you need the timing checked.

I wonder go over all the sensor plugs, if theres a metallic sound it be that the pump has advanced too much.

They use air temp to adjust the timing correctly.

Could you post a video of it in action?
