Default Engine Swap

How's it going lads, I'm looking at getting an s40 T5 but there's absolutely none about where I'm from so I was thinking of taking the 2.5 engine out of another volvo and putting into an s40, say a 1.8 version, I'm just wondering if it's as easy as straight swap and also about the gearbox

You won't have much luck, will also need all the electrics probably including the CEM which will mean all the other bits like the Radio which will have paired to it etc.

PRetty much a non starter.

Yep, I wouldn't bother at all.

Just wait it out or buy a Focus ST (80% the same car).

Could be worth bringing one over on the ferry!

Yea, you wont find many of them here around, Im ocasionally looking around myself to see if there are any but nope, (yes, doing it also to feel myself more elite'ish , prideOfOwnership +10 :P)
In the same time UK have still have few of those for sale and some in really nice specs. Year ago I even saw another AWD for sale, so worth to be checking UK websites.
VRT might kill you, though

edit - to answer your actual question, as advices above - forget it. You literally need full donor car to do swap with all wiring, components etc (even radio unit, as its VIN locked)...
