Rhythmic rubbing sound
Hi Guys,
Over the past 12-18 months I've had a fair bit of work done on the car including new front O/S caliper, N/S Rear caliper, new front pads and new hand brake shoes fitted. I've noticed that when pulling away there us a rhythmic "chuff chuff" as if the brakes are rubbing, but not all the way round the wheel. I can't identify if this is coming from the front or back. The sound gets faster as the speed increases. I checked the discs after a long run and nothing is getting hot. Could it be that the calipers are not floating, or could it be something else. I don't experience any other issues with the breaks (although the fluid could possibly do with a flush)

Sounds similar to what I had which I eventually found to be a bent rim, the bend was not great and was on the inner face of the wheel so not easily spotted. Might be worth an hour to take each wheel off and look critically at the rims.

Is the noise constant or does it go away during a journey?
Could be caused by pad material adhering to the disk while parked. If / when you take the wheels off to check them for damage also rotate the disk to see if there is a pad shape mark on the disk surface. Try spinning the wheel at each corner one at a time when jacked up to see if you can reproduce the noise and isolate which corner is the problem.
