Tyre pressures - confused?
2010 model V70 (900 miles so far) with standard 17" rims, Continental Sportcontact II, 225/50 tyres -
The spec plate on the drivers door states 31/32psi for normal driving whilst the ECO pressure is 38psi. At 38psi in the wet, the car seems very skittish (?) but at 31/32psi, it's very sure footed and planted. In order to maximise economy, I'd like to run @ 38psi but at what cost to safe driving? Thoughts anyone or has anyone else experienced this? |

GTR1000 - I absiolutely agree, my 2009 xc70 is the same.
I pumped mine up to ECO before driving from Edinburgh to Cornwall, and have left them there. It does make the car skittish on poor surfaced roads. Clan is correct. I do try using "compromise" pressures on other cars, and I think it's the best route. Try things till you are happy. Suggest you use 31 psi as a "min" and 38 psi as a "max" though... |

I found this also. I found the car handled better and had a much better ride with the pressures in normal. I have found that having them in eco barely made any difference anyway to the mpg. So I left mine in the normal pressure.
