Actually it will only take 3kW*, which is a lot more than 3 amps :-) It is just a little over 13 amps on a standard domestic supply. (*According to podpoint website)
The one thing I remember from physics is P=IV, or Power (watts) is Current (amps) multiplied by Voltage. So on a 220v circuit, at 10 amps you are getting a theoretical 2.2 kW. The battery is about 9kWh, so it will take just over 4 hours to fully charge, although some is lost as heat in the charge process. Domestic electricity is about 14p a kW by the way. The reason I use 10 amps as the example, is because that is the rating of the 3 pin charger that comes with the car. It has a nice up and down arrow so you can reduce the charge current down if you are worried, or I guess just want to charge slower.

I'm looking at the Zappi charger from MyEnergi because I already have solar panels on my house. The Zappi has three modes which benefit homeowners that have solar panels and / or Economy 7/11 tariffs to charge their vehicles in an optimal fashion.
I also like the look of the company as they are based in the UK and are a young start-up company bringing value add and innovative products to market. To read more for yourself then the website is - https://myenergi.uk/product/zappi/ Paul |
