Default DAB Radio

Radio reception has worked absolutely faultlessly for 3 months (albeit dreadful sound quality). Now I get constant drop out since last Thursday. Known issue?

Sometimes high pressure can affect radio reception. I've not noticed any changes however.

Thanks Nigel, looks like you're right. Gone back to Bluetoothing TuneIn from my phone.

DAB is still experimental , It will never be as intended until FM is turned off , they are still adding transmitters , doing mods which need transmitters turning off and still raising the power in areas were they can without interfering .

what was wrong with the audio quality in the last few weeks ? maybe the DAB unit in the car has finally packed up .

Maintenance is all listed on the main DAB web sites .
another point , there is highly likely a DAB software update available for your car .

Audio quality is down to the poor volvo head unit/amp/speakers

DAB reception until 7/8 days ago was absolutely solid. From South Bucks, West London, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire. ....now in Bucks and West London it's choppy, 30 seconds on.......10 off.....1 minute on......30 secs off etc etc

Will check on update, cheers

mine cuts in and out now again but not too bad.

what i find annoying is that even though i have set it to show singer/song name (or something like that) it still only shows me the station playing.

unlike my dab at home that does show all the info.

If it's a tabby cat, I'm ok with that. If it's a bit leopardy, I could be in jeopardy!

I find dab in mine to be worse in clear weather, always glitchy, in rain/cloud/etc seems to get a nice signal.

I'm happy with Clan's explanation for now and ignoring how excellent DAB is the Nissan we also own

Not sure if its just my imagination but DAB in the V40's seem to work better in the area I live than the rest of the range. I have a 2014 V60 and its a bit patchy, friends up the road have a 2011 s60 and a 2014 V70 both have the same DAB reception issues as mine, only difference with them the Renault they had was also terrible. I just get annoyed than the Nissan one works so well!

We have a few V40's in work and whenever I use them I seem to have no issues with DAB at all...they are newer mind so maybe I should give the software update ago...

Mine starts breaking up if certain vehicles are around me. In a queue the other day, I was followed back up the road by a lorry. When the lorry was close I lost reception, when I pulled away reception came back. I think that certain vehicles have devices in them that cause interference but I have no idea what.

We've seen cheap or poorly made usb chargers affect radio, not sure bow far the interference can spread, in traffic i guessed some drivers use jammers to block trackers from tracking them, probably far fetched but I've experienced the same thing in traffic too
