No harm in having one in.
You'll probably find you can pass it down to your grandchildren as an heirloom ;-)

Can anyone say please what kind of oil i can use for D4 engine D5204T3 ( 163 bhp )? I mean the brand and the oil grade.
What i found is Aral Tronic F and Ford Formula F 5w-30.
What is the beat brand to change the oil?

I got a litre from Halfords for mine for about £15.

Always keep a spare litre in the boot, just in case.

In almost 16 years of running new(ish) Volvos I have never had to put any oil in any of them between services (and even then the dealer puts it in)

I put about 1 litre in my vRS in five years of driving.

If I don't need it, that's good with me! 👍

So far, I had 3 oil changes in my D4, and used Volvo synthetic oil 0W30 A5?B5 which is made actually by Castrol and it is in essence a Castrol Edge.....the beauty of this is that I can buy a liter of Volvo oil from my dealer for about 11 euros while at the auto part store (ATU) charges circa 24 euros. So get your oil from Volvo directly. The same might be true in your neck of the woods.

Also, if you're doing your own changes, don't buy genuine filters.
Mann do the exact same filter in a Mann box for less than half the price.

Default V40 D3 Oil

Have seen the posts for D4 engine oil - I have also been trying to track down the Castrol Edge Professional V 0w-20 engine oil as I had a message on my V40 D3 this morning saying 'low oil level'. This surprised me at just 7000 miles but like others am having difficulty tracking it down.
Any suggestions if it is 'normal' to get an oil morning at this mileage in a 6 month old car and where I can get this oil??
