Guessing that a 240 LH distributor is the ideal option rather than a bit of "dimpling" the bulkhead?
The reason I ask is that I'm toying with a redblock turbo conversion too. I've been offered an earlier 230 ET engine which is Motronic, not LH.
Just at the collecting bits stage, you understand.
Jim.

There is no room for it.

Motronic is a bit of a pain and suffer with crank sensor and Air flow meter issues. Use the engine and convert to LH2.4 or standalone

If you want to stay with Motronic you can still use the 240 distributor.

If converting to LH2.4 you can convert to wasted spark to do away with teh dizzy altogether

Still thinking about this.... if I was to convert an 1989 2.3 240 GLT would turbo parts from a 940 bolt straight on, and are the internals of that original engine the same as if I used a whole turbo engine? Eg anything uprated in the turbo engine?

The 89 would have weak rods

Valves on a turbo engine are sodium filled but not the end of teh world using normal valves.

Pistons are dished in a turbo engine to reduce the CR

As you will be pulling the engine to drill and tap the oil drain for the turbo why not just fit the turbo block

Kind regards

Thanks, though there was sure to be some differences.

I have the offer of a 1995 2.3 turbo m90 manual 940, it’s done 225000 miles it runs and goes and I would probably use it in its current state before using it at some point for my conversion. So at 225000 miles, I would want to have that reconditioned, so my questions are, is recognitioning a simple task, I have the tools, the space, I have straight swapped engines before but never major took one to bits, other than head gasket. Or how much to have it done and where? Would the gearbox need doing too? Once they are reconditioned do they preform as new and give the future mileage you would have expected from a new engine?
Thanks

At that mileage there is a high chance the bores will be worn and you might be pushed into reboring on building. Oversize pistons are available.

New bearings etc and the engine should be good for another 200,000 miles
I would also consider going to H beam rods if fitting new pistons

Are h beam rods stronger I’m guessing, I assume the name suggests they are H section?

Are there any specialists that do rebuilds?

Rods like https://www.classicswede.co.uk/B200_..._15871362.aspx
so to save against engine destruction with rod failure.

I have a guy that does rebuilds for me but he is not the fastest
