Default Bosch electronic throttle actuator...to clean or replace?

Hi I recently picked up used a used s60 2.5t 2004. It has a throttle body issue which I need to deal with as the car is drifting in and out of limp mode as a result. So here is my question: should I attempt a cleaning of the TB first or is it a lost cause? Anyone have any success getting rid of the throttle body codes with a simple cleaning? Note that the throttle actuator is the the Bosch model 30711154 and not the previous MM model that was more prone to issues.
