Some people have had issues with blond seats and especially leather damage on the bolster. However I think that this is more a function of the seat design that the leather per se. I have normal (not sports contour) seats with Amber Nappa. The leather is pretty much as new and the car turned 55500 miles today.

Regarding the blonde carpets, we test drove an XC90 inscription back in March 2016 which had blonde carpets, it was actually a used car which the garage had in and the previous owner had even installed blonde rubber mats. It looked pretty good but I think the carpets were not practical, especially as a family car. I think it was in the 2017 refresh that Volvo changed to black carpets with the blonde leather for the UK market.

I was very tempted by blonde, but just couldn't be doing with the two tone steering wheel, in my mind that should have been all black.

My ideal would be an Inscription with blonde seats, door cards, armrests etc, but black carpets, dash and door tops, steering wheel and black headlining. This is how they do the Amber at present. Why you can't have the choice with Blonde I do not know.

Both MY18.5 and MY19 pricelists suggest that you get Charcoal carpet and floor mats with blond seats/charcoal interior (Interior Code: UC00).

Blonde (UC00) certainly comes with black carpets on the XC60. Not sure about the XC90

You get black/charcoal carpets and lower interior trim with blond seats, they did away with blond carpets when the 2017 MY came out in early 2016.
My original order was for blond on blond but it had to be changed to blond/charcoal as they changed to 2017 spec before my car was built. You still get the blond rooflining door trim and A/B frames etc.

I wonder whether the half blond wheel could be dyed successfully?

I really like my half blond wheel and it does not get dirty much, a quick wipe with a wet wipe every now and then brings it up like new and a little rub with a leather conditioner keeps it in good condition, when holding the steering wheel the contact points are mostly on the charcoal leather.

I want to go for a Denim Blue exterior and have decided against the pano roof (just can't justify it on a PCH)...so seems a good way to lift the interior light levels (certainly did that on my test driver recently).

My only question is whether the seats discolour badly over time. New jeans seem to bleed blue/indigo die for fun nowadays.

Can you protect against this with a product of some sort or does a good leather cleaning cream take it back to "as new".

I just wouldn't want to take a hit at return time for excessive "wear and tear".

thanks :0)
I have a 6 month old Inscription with blonde leather. I’ve done 8000 mikes and the passenger seat side bolster is showing excessive signs of wear with cracks, splits and tears. The leather appears very soft with a very thin coating of the blonde colour. I am not at all happy as you can imagine.

Sports contour seats or standard seats?
