Default Transfer Case to gearbox sleeve.

Hi,looking for some advice.
I need to replace a suspected worn transfer case to gearbox sleeve but I'm not 100% sure of the correct Volvo part number.
I have AW55/51 SN on the identification plate on my gearbox but VIDA says I have the AW50/51 are these boxes the same,I'm confused ?
VIDA says the service kit number is 30787988 is that the same as kit 31437982 ? As when I google the kit I want I come up with both those numbers but both kits have the same number for the actual sleeve which is 9495034.
The last thing I want to do is order the wrong part,I'm stumped as to why VIDA says I have the AW50/51 when I've got the AW55/51 ? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, just been through same pain. Mine is MY 2003 D5 with 163hp.

Kit part number for me was 31437982 which consisted of sleeve, two oil seals and a retaining circlip. This is an uprated sleeve and I understand post 2006 models are fitted with this uprated sleeve.

Unfortunately the splines on my transfer box were also stripped...even more pain.

Hope this helps and good luck, john l

No symptoms, no warnings. I only discovered the problem during recent snow. Ironically parking on a slope in a local winter sports shop trying to buy a steigh for my grandkids. I could not reverse up the slope with forward wheels spinning. I checked prop shaft and it turned.

I got my local Indie to fit mine as not so young anymore. He charged me £250. However. There are a lot of instructions and youtube videos on this repair but not a job for me!

Again, good luck.
