2.5 960 Engine Gaskets etc
Is it best to get the engine gaskets direct from Volvo? I can't seem to find anywhere online which lists the 2.5 gasket set.

I've had a look through most of my "usual suspects" in terms of suppliers and nobody seems to list the 2.5 version Liam - don't you just hate it when you're right!
Joking aside, i thought maybe Volvo used the same gasket set because all they had done for the 3.0 was increased the stroke. Check page 44 of this pdf and you'll see that idea was wrong as well! http://www.myvolvolibrary.info/Tech_...DataPocket.pdf Even the likes of RockAuto, FCPEuro, PFV etc don't list it. However, in the last place i looked i found one on Skandix.com. Make sure you're sitting down! https://volvocarparts.nl/en/internal...fs-b6254s.html At that price i'd either break the car for spares and sell the engine complete and then buy a 3.0 version instead or grit my teeth, pay up and look big as my wallet wouldn't after! It could explain why it's so difficult to find, with a price like that it suggests most people have scrapped their 2.5 powered 960s because of the cost of the head set and with so few suppliers listing it (1 out of about 10) they can more or less set their own price.

Thanks Classicswede, I don't think I'm planning to change the head gasket at the moment, was just a bit puzzled when I couldn't find the gasket set listed?! But there are a couple of small oil leaks on the engine block somewhere, will see more when the engine comes out.
I would think the sump gaskets would be the same as the 3.0? Can anyone confirm that?

The 2.5 set is available in Sweden.
Bottom end gaskets are the same for both. |
