Has anyone used a non Volvo part for replacing the whole mount – any recommendations?

I bought the one used on stepdaughters C70 from an e-bay seller though I can't recall who,but it was an aftermarket part and there's been no problems with it so far in the two years or so since it was fitted.

When I bought a similar part from the Volvo dealership, it came in a Volvo box with Febi Bilstein stamped on the part.

Try Febi or Corteco... Good aftermarket options. I'm not sure about price, but I imagine they'll be cheaper than the same thing you'd get from Volvo, which would have been made by someone else anyway and put in a Volvo box, for which you pay more for.
