Draining condensation from fuel filter
Quick question - the service program for a D5 engine shows the filter should be changed every 2 years, and in alternate years the condensation should be drained from the filter housing.
When I undo the bolt on the underside of the filter housing, diesel drains out. Reading a few of the older threads on here, people say they get as much as 400ml of fuel out the canister by leaving the bolt undone. Is this the correct way of draining condensation, and if so should I be letting all that fuel drain out to also remove any water? |

Diesel is less dense than water so any H2O will drain off first.
If you are getting diesel then stop and job done. |

I'd be surprised if anyone ever got any water out of a diesel filter housing.
