Default Gerarbox woes

Well all started 10 miles from home last night.

Coming off the motorwa struggled to get out of 5th.

Stopped to check all ok and everything seemed fine. Then back onto motorway and it crunched selecting 5th so left it in 4th to get home as there was a metal sounding grinding noise from the passenger side. Thought the front caliper had stuck on.

Anyways back on normal road and turning right the metal sound returned like fluid had moved to one side or whats left of it.

Anyways get home and plant my car into the drive face down as its on a slope and now cant get treverse at all. Is a bit tough geting other gears to but when i jacked it up to find the gearbox plug you could select everything bar reverse sweetly. Tried to top the fluid up but made more meess on the driveway than getting it into the box.

Let the car back down and its backl to struggling to select 1st to 5th and no reverse.

RAC are on there way lol and hopefully its just fluid level issues Any ideas folks.

On another note had it in the garage as i spotted fluid on the back of the sump and bits of the gearbox but they said all was fine. Hopefully this isnt something to do with it as the fluid isnt dropping onto the ground.

well a quick update. Got towed out of the driveway.

Drove forward in first and it was making a grinding sound like a bearing.

Did it all he way to the garage louder as the car went faster.

1st to 5th the noise was still there even when i let it coast in nuetral was still grinding away.

It sounded familiar as i had this sound when the thrust bearing went on my old pulsar years ago.

Gearbox/engine mount collapse? Driveshaft rubbing as a result?

Bit off topic Midnight T4 but...

Looking at our two avtar pics your car looks a lot more 'custard powder' yellow than mine. Is it a panama yellow? I see you've colour coded the bumper inserts. Actually maybe not......

Yeah its panama yellow.

The full bonnet and bumpers have been done not just colourcoding the strips I did the lot.

It may just be the camera being used I took it on a 5MP Nokia N98 8GB with late evening light or the fact it was just out the bodyshop 2hrs before still covered in dust from bufing the paint.

heres the two large pics of it painted and one from the scottish meet. I have no idea of the camera used at the meet but it looks more like yours.

LOL must be just the camera shot! Looks more like mine in the bigger pics.
I was wondering about black or graphite wheels on mine...looks pretty good. May just get mine powder coated graphite TBH as I just shelled out on some new F1 Eagle GSD-3 rubber all round.

Good luck with the gearbox!
