Cool

BE CAREFUL with Nail Varnish remover...... if the windows are Acrylic.......as will probably be the case with most caravan windows you may well damage them !! Some of these plastic windows don't like it at all.

Use a hairdryer to warm it, and then gently dab it off with Surgical spirit Available from any chemists. It's what we use in healthcare for removing plaster marks and other such gummy things. Harmless to the windows, but wash it off anyway once you've removed the gunge.

That was my worry with nail varnish remover, that would melt or mist the acrylic, will have go at your method as soon as the rain stops.

sorry, quite right about the nail polish remover, should have read the original post properly and not just quickly scanned over it and missed the bit about the windows being plastic!

WD40 is very good at sticky stuff removal. Should be ok on acrylic windows, too...

lighter fluid does the job....an art student recomended it to me years ago...they use it all the time to remove glue from anything....including paper.

i have yet to find a surface that it will damage as it evaporates almost as fast as you clean it up.

I don't currently have a caravan. On my 240 estate tail gate window I used Sticky Stuff Remover from Halfords in a yellow can, made by de-solv-it. It's designed for the job and is effective. I use it for sticky tape residue and all sorts of labels, including car dealer labels. The list of not-recommended surfaces on the can does not include acrylic. Obviously you'd want to proceed with caution. http://www.desolvit.co.uk
