Default v70 tow bar fitting

hi i'm new on hear forgive me if this has been asked before. Ive got a V70 classic (very last of the old shape) and it came with a genuine Volvo tow bar in the boot not fitted. Dose anyone know what is involved in fitting it? i assume you have to remove the rear bumper? is that right? Many thanks

Yes you need to remove the rear bumper which means drilling out the rivets that hold the plastic wheel arch liner to the bumper or removing the bumper with the liner still atached but disconnected from the body there are also a couple of bolts that secure the bumper from underneath you also need to remove the exhaust rear mout to be able to fit the retaining bolts/brackets for the towbar this diagram is for a towsure bar but it may help point you in the right direction

The exhaust bracket is held on by 2 bolts see the link I sent in the last message as for the wiring you will need either the dedicated kit from Volvo or one from www.towsure.co.uk

i want to use this to take my trailer test (they introduced in 1st march 97 and my 17th was 23rd march, hows that for bad luck?) do i need some sort of audio warning as a legal requirement, the kit listed on the link is for cars without light faliure waqrning which my v70 has. Also what would be the heaviest trailer i could tow, i.e will it be suffient to meet the requirements of the test? many thanks
