Default Introduction

Hello, I recently bought a V70 (2.4 petrol 2wd manual) intended as a stop-gap car, while my usual utilitarian vehicle was being repaired. In the process of using this Volvo over the last few weeks I have grown to appreciate this car more and more, so much so that I am selling the other car in favour of keeping the Volvo.

However, the Volvo introduction doesn't end there because last week I acquired a Volvo V70 T5 complete with full V70R bodykit and wheels, so currently I own 2 Volvos whereas I have not owned nor driven Volvos previously; I am smitten!

I am seriously considering joining the Volvo Owners Club, intending to be an active member. I have been a member of classic car clubs before and enjoyed the scene very much.

Are there active groups / meetings within South Wales, or where is the closest in proximity. Any input would be welcome. Thank you

Welcome...

The V70 T5 sounds nice but they're all in a league of their own for comfy seats and you'd be staggered to see how well they can get around a race track if you come the annual Volvo track day! They just get the job done in a very soothing manner and are generally highly dependable cars. Enjoy!

Default Thank you

Thank you both for the responses. The Volvo 2.4 (non-turbo) while not a car to light up the tyres, is smooth, extremely comfortable and capable. I am yet to put the T5 on the road and drive it with any enthusiasm. I also own a Mercedes SLK 350 and the interior and comfort of that car is woeful compared to the Volvo, though the power is more than adequate.

I have previously done track days with a TR8 and MR2; both cars were track prepared with anti-roll cages etc. Would that not be a requirement for using the T5 on a Volvo track day? More information please.

Once again, any information on local club meetings, events etc welcome. I intend to join the VOC soon.
