Default 00 V70 Classic

Hi
Im taking delivery of a 00 V70 classic 2.0 on tuesday but all i know about the engine is its a 2.0,
I presume its a 20 valve as it doesnt sound like my 10v 2.0 850.
I rang the insurance company and they told me all they could see for 2.0 petrol was a 2.0 turbo.
The salesman in my local volvo main dealer didnt know anything else about it other than its a 2.0.
I dont care either way but was there a 2.0t classic v70 available or is it a 20v,there is no turbo gauge.
I did drive it but only barely and in traffic so i didnt get a chance to floor it and wait for the kick.
I think its an SE as its fully loaded with full leather and aircon etc. would this have any bearing on whether its a turbo or not.

Hi, there are two V70 engine types with a turbo, the high pressure 2.3 20 valve that's in the T5 and R and the 2.5 low pressure 20 valve. There was no V70 2.0 turbo produced for the UK market. V70s do not have a turbo gauge - they were only standard equipment in the older 850s. The SE and CD specification are levels of trim - it's possible to have a V70 SE T5 with velour seats as it's only the CD spec that has leather. CD trim should have leather adjustable electric seats, door kickplates, wood dash etc. If you give the main dealer the car's registration he should be able to check the delivery specifications and tell you what specifications were ordered when the car was delivered.

The following are V70 Classic engine types:-
2.0 litre 10 valve 1 26 bhp
2.5 litre TDI 1 40 bhp
2.5 litre 10 valve 1 44 bhp
2.5 litre 20 valve 1 70 bhp
2.5 litre 2.5T 1 93 bhp
2.5 litre LPT (AWD) 1 93 bhp
2.3 litre Turbo T5 240 bhp
2.3 litre Turbo R 250 bhp (Auto 240 bhp)

Thanks Iain for clearing that up.
Its a 2.0 10v so as its definitely 2.0,
I am buying it from my local volvo main dealer,
It has leather but im not sure about the electric seats, there are two flat levers down by the right side of the drivers seat but i never touched them so i dont know what they do.
No wood dash, all beige/cream,leather in the doors, leather steering wheel, what looks like carbon fibre in the centre console,
Its got roof rails and alloys if this gives any idea to what it is,
Is it a CD spec?
I think the insurance company were confusing it with the newer shape V70 2.0T also available in 2000.

Ben, if the seats are manually controled it will not be a CD (the driver's seat should have three memories). CDs should have cruise control and climate control - an aluminium option to the wood dash was put into the later cars. When the classic was being phased out it may have had extras! Specifications changed over the years - the roof rails were part of a different package which was not connected to CD or SE! As I have written, the last production Classic V70s may have had extras! I tried to update my reply, however you must have been replying to me! - I was going to write that specification for cars for the Irish Republic might be different to UK specifications (probably not) - just a thought!

Hi,
I dont recall there being a memory function on the seats so i would imagineits an SE with extras,
I dont think it had cruise although it did have air con.
Thanks for clearing it up..

I have a March '00 V70 Classic, which I purchased from a Volvo main dealer about a year ago. It's listed on the V5 as a V70 Classic, and that's what my insurance company class it as when they search on the registration mark. But the sales invoice from the dealer and the Volvo Used Car Warranty paperwork list it as a V70 2.4 SE 140bhp. As I understand it, V70 Classics were basically production SE models but with the newer 2.4L engine fitted. (Could be wrong, though!)

FWIW, my Classic has leather upholstery & steering wheel, cruise control, climate control, alloys, wood dash trim & centre console, manual seat adjustment, roof rails & a rear spoiler. According to the dealer I bought it from, this was the bog-standard spec for the last Classic models to roll off the production line early in 2000, just before the change to the new-shape models.

I can confirm that. My Classic's also a March 2000 model, and I was told the same thing....the last Classics had everything but the electric seat adjustment as standard.

The range of packs, factory options and accessories that volvo offered meant that it was very easy to have an old shape x70 with a spec that was a total hotch potch, and would not be a perfect SE or CD.

I will be collecting the car today if the dealer ever gets his finger out!!!.
I will post full spec and all details about it,
I was given the same talk from the salesman whereby the last off the line Classics were loaded with extras.

Iain,
I just collected the V70 and it is a 2.0T Classic shape,it says on the logbook that it is a turbo 2.0,the dealer also told me this and it drives like one too!
It is a May 2000 car.
Se spec with all the extras:
Cruise,
Climate control,
All electric,
Full beige leather,
Roof rails,
rear Spoiler,
15" alloys,
Fog lights,
Trip Computer,
SC-805 3 in 1 radio/cd/tape
load cover,

Is this a one off 2.0T Classic as i dont see the 2.0T option in the list of engines you mentioned above.
