Default V40 interior light

I have a 1999 1.8 V40 The interior lights stay on and the only way to turn them off is to switch them manually. I have checked all the door switches etc. The foot well light behaves as it should as does the door open warning lamp. I've only found an old thread from Pike01 posted in 2003. Has anyone else had this problem and found the fix?

Its probably a courtesy light switch sticking or broken, I had a similar problem in that the load area lights would stay on and set my alarm off, it turned out to be a wire on the rear door lock that had to be disconnected as otherwise i would have to replace the entire lock assembly.

Hi there, I had the opposite problem with my 1997 S40, the interior lights worked off the switch but not on the doors. Checked all the door switches and they were fine. I happened across a scrap car in my local breakers yard and out of desparation, I thought I'd ask if I could try the light unit out of the scrap car to see if this fixed the problem. Hey presto I now have working interior lights!! Took about 2 mins to swap over after figuring out the retaining screws were accessed by removing the lenses. Only cost a fiver too.
