Default Rattling in Door Panel from Speaker

I just bought a 2011 XC90 this past month. The premium sound system sounds great, but the bass in the front driver and passenger door speakers cause a rattle in both front door panels. Since my XC90 is still under warranty, I had it looked at and the technician said that they couldn't detect any cause for the rattle. He said that there was a clip that had come loose on the drivers side door panel and he fixed it, but the rattling is still present. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, is there a way to correct it? I haven't pulled the door panel off to inspect it myself, since the technician looked at it. But there must be something causing this noise. I do not believe this is normal for the XC90 and I doubt I am the only owner who would be bothered by such an annoying rattle!

Perhaps the settings for your audio are incorrect, i.e. too much bass.

Try resetting the values to factory and try again.

Mine does it too (sometimes), but I like my bass.

The previous owner (a colleague) had it in to the dealer multiple times when it was under warranty and Volvo never managed to fix it.

'They all do that Sir' was the last answer I think he had.

I tried that today, but I like hearing bass, and to get rid of it completely I would have to have it turned all the way down.

I basically got the same answer from the dealership. There must be some fix for this problem out there!

I have experienced the rivets holding the internal door parts, window mechanism etcetera being loose and causing rattling, the rivets are only a soft alloy metal and I assume they deform.

One answer is to drill them out and replace, or the easy solution is to wrap and tightly wind thin nylon fishing line under and around the head of any loose rivets.

I had the above problem and used this solution 6 years ago, no problems since.

The door trim is not difficult to remove, with it off, tap the door metalwork and you will likely hear the source of the rattle.

You might find it's the window lifting bars / mechanism -

Mine makes more of a buzzing vibration noise, and I found that if I closed the window
using the "one-shot" button press, once the window was shut,
there would be a vibrating noise when the volume was up,
and also sometimes when going over bumps in the road.

However, I found that by lowering the window slghtly ,then raising it again -
while keeping the button up for a few seconds after the window reaches the top of the travel,
then letting the button go, the window seemed to drop ever so slightly,
and then didn't vibrate any more !

It's a bit of a pain to close the window like this every time, but better than
going back to the Dealer and paying for an expensive re-alignment of the window closing gear !

Worth a try !

Interestingly, I have an 11 year car and I have the very same annoying rattle, I have deduced that it is the attachment of the grill to the door panel, turning up the bass and pressing your fingers between the grill and the panel stops the vibration. I will take a closer look but suspect wedging in a little packing will do the trick..
