I reckon the Assin-warner 6speed auto isnt really the box for these cars. (it is used in Vauxhall, fiat, alfa's & pugs too) ZF would have been better
who did you get to alter your gearbox parameters ? my previous car was an s80 5 speed auto, that box/ engine combination was as perfect as you get, loved it

Hi there, I've got a 2000 V70 2.5 TDI manual and this has just started happening with mine. It happened just as I was about to start a five hour drive home. I made it back but a 3 second delay at every junction and roundabout in every gear certainly did a lot to improve sphincter control!!! Despite the lack of throttle response with the pedal I found that once I was over 30-40 mph it was easier to use the cruise control button to increase and decrease speed. Any suggestions of causes and cures without taking out a mortgage for a dealer would be welcome, thanks.

hi
as far as I know the " the delay " were talking about is exclusive to the geartronics , I suspect the hesitation youre talking about is a diferent kind, I'm sure someone with a manual box will point you in the right direction

I just did a check with the cars self diagnostic and fault codes 26 and 40 came up. I'm led to believe that these are valve intake control and oxygen sensor. Sounds like I may have to take another mortgage out after all.

I can't always make it go away on ours (2005 55 D5 163 (remapped to 200) and 5-speed geartronic), but if I've sat for a few seconds at a junction, I know it'll do it, so just before take off, I pop it into manual for a fraction, then back to auto and that seems to be better, you can feel something take up some slack as soon as you put it into auto.

Feels almost like the torque converter isn't being allowed to lock or something.

I have had the new 200ps engine model for about a month now and I must say that it appears to me that this problem hasn't manifested itself to me yet but I did have the problem with my previous one (183(?)ps).

Have noticed this with mine but only when you pull out at a slow speed then kickdown and it seems to take an age before you have launch control as we call it .(my10 185bhp)

I wonder if its to do with the gearbox in that according to the manual the gearbox learns your style of driving . I know when I'm in a hurry and using the revs the car performs faultlessly and again when pootling there are no issues . If I pull away from a standing start on full throttle the car goes like stink but as said if a slow pull away the kickdown for an inexpected problem we have delay for what seems an eternity before launch control .
Maybe if you were to drive using the kickdown the majority of the time the gearbox would get used to it and the problem would go away . Would hate to drive like that as that defeats the objeact of having such a lovely big comfortable car .
