General: delay question again

you could be right , the car does have an adaptive box, or its supposed to, my two previous volvos had adaptive boxes , but it would take them about a hundred yards of whichever style you chose to adapt

This is really starting to bug me now...& it seems particularly bad as I exit my street first thing (slight incline, left hand turn, with very poor vis to the right, so pretty much from a stop!)

Does anyone have a definitive solution? I have heard one or two say, get it remapped & they can eridicate the problem, but I'd need to know for sure before I splash any cash on that. Other than the take off delay, I reckon the 185 has ample power for everyday use/overtaking etc.

Apart from the delay, I am delighted with my 'new' motor...but I have yet to renew the tax & have it serviced, that might change my mind somewhat !

Also from Aberdeen I see. My 2005 XC90 D5 185hp geartronic also used to hesitate when pulling away from a standstill and was one of the reasons I went for a Touareg for my next car. I asked the Arnold Clarke Volvo chief mechanic and he gave me a **** and bull story about it being software control of torque to protect the gearbox. Rollocks in my opinion.

I now have a new XC90 D5 200hp geartronic on order from them and am hoping they have at least improved the situation if not eradicated it altogether. Though with the discount I've got I'll live with it if they haven't.

Indeed, I am growing to live with it...although it seems a lot worse on the left hand, slightly uphill exit from my street.

I have to ask, what kind of discount did you secure? I bought my 4 yr old example as a stepping stone, I hope to 'upgrade' to something newer in time.

I'd certainly have another if the deal is right.

true, you do learn to live with it , but its such a shame , it blights rush hour driving , I just wait for a bigger gap in the oncoming traffic , much to the annoyance of anyone behind me

Have you tried driving the your XC90 with the DTSC switched off to see if it makes any difference to the hesitant pulling away.

Do you get the hesitancy when simply accelerating mildly or when you floor it as years ago I had a V6 Rover that when you approached a roundabout if you accelerated hard from a slow speed it took a couple of seconds to respond and was even worse using kickdown when nothing happened and then all hell let loose and it rocketed forward (just when you had decided to abandon the "enter roundabout" manouevre. - solenoid problem?

Have a look here and here whcih may give you some ideas?

If you are considering an upgrade I suggest you get down to Arnold Clarkes before the end of the month with a quote from drivethedeal.com. I did and they matched it. Ended up with around £12k off a factory order XC90 Exec D5 AWD Geartronic. It seems these discounts are due to stop at the end of Sept.

The same happened to me in 2005 when I ordered my first XC90. Must be an annual Volvo thing?

not tried that , i will, you describe the symptoms perfectly , if youve ever had a manual car with a knackered clutch, whereby the more you put your foot down the slower you accelerate , youll know what its like , till you hit 2000 rpm then wallop , ! warp 9 !

I've got a MY11 R-Design with the 200hp factory fit. I'm a London driver and can confirm the "lag" is alive and well in this model. It sucks.

It scares the living day lights out of me, made all the worse for the traction control having to kick in to sort things out after the engine finally wakes up.

I'm going back to a 5-Series BMW for my commute; the missus can plod around with the problem on the school run, where it doesn't matter.
