Default Are S40's worthless?

Last time I tried to p/x mine, the price of the car I was buying was increased, which in effect meant I was paying the garage to take it in part exchange!

Regards

That's just strange - normally they have a minimum value (normally around the 100 quid mark) for a few reasons. Extra incentive to buy a car from them and also because even as scrap it has value.

Such a shame!

Depends on what model you have Phil condition etc,any px deal you will come worse off.and all cars over 3 years old are worthless lol.not to their owners but insurance companies forecourt sales some places wont even bother putting a 4 year old car out mine was one of those it came from a dealer in Leicester who sold it to the indy and i bought it from them

The minute you take a brand new car out of the showroom its lost thousands today, that's why you see newish bmw 5 series on working class estates lol

My next door neighbour bought that 10 year old Bentley cheaper than a brand new ford fiesta, when new that was a 160 grands worth of car. Hes got rid now thing was a bag o sh@t

Perfectly driveable. Full MOT. New tyres. New battery. Great condition.

S40 classic petrol. Great condition, low mileage. Ok it has vvt issue,(has had for 6 years) but the garage did not know that. Did a deal, THEN mentioned p/x - which shoved the price up. So £xx for a straight purchase or £xxx for a purchase including chucking in the s40....!!!!!

Regards

Whenever buying from a trader whether franchised or used car lot, the car you are interested in is always the best colour, the most desirable engine/drive chain combo, the sought after interior and all the gismos that everyone is after.
However when looking to part exchange or an outright sale, the car you have is always the worst colour, the most undesirable engine/transmission combo, the interior that no one wants and all the gismos that no will pay extra for. So with a sharp intake of breath the salesman will say, if only it was blue and not red and with the 1.2 engine instead of the v8 quad turbo and no one wants eight cupholders these days. And as for the triple change auto boxes with the four speed reverse, I can't shift those for love nor money.

Alot of truth in that because today in the society we live in nobody wants older cars they want new cars or nearly new cars, also people in the main don't care about their cars.alot of people next door has a 10 plate beemer we will go out and buy a 12 plate beemer lol, the business people see old cars as a hassle most traders will just shove em into auctions.
