Question Help! What could this be?

I have a 1996 VOLVO 960 3.0 24V, yesterday it started running rough at low revs. The engine was lumpy and the power down. Although it cleared if you put your foot down.

Today my other half has had a look and determined that no.2 cylinder was not firing. He has changed the plug and still the problem persists. Also, following the change, the engine management light came on.

Any ideas?

Thanks in anticipation!

Pennie

The 3litre has individual ignition coils. try swapping the suspect one over with another, see if the fault follows the coil to the new cylinder

If so, there's your problem

I'd start with the yellow pages, phone scrapyards and hope that there's one open, or with someone there... and that theyve got one!

I think you'd be seriously strapped to find one on a Sunday unless there's someone in your area on the forum who has one spare.

Although they do say Sundays are Holy days, never know someone might pull a miracle out of the bag..
