Just out of interest, along with some dim bulbs covered in this great guide Can anyone tell me what bulbs would be needed to illuminate the speedo dial.

Yesterday mine went slightly dark to the left side of the speed dial between it and the rev counter.

This may have been mentioned so apologies but you don't need to remove the knobs (fnarr) at all before taking the front off. I tried fixing the slow/fast issue on mine this afternoon and it came out without having to remove em.

EDIT - Oops, it has. Still after reading the majority of the posts Im now off out to check all my dash lights work

How idiot proof is it to change the bulbs for the headlight & foglight panel - all 3 are gone in one of my S40's.

Dont want to break any trim or anything as I will get strung up!

managed to get a nice bright led job done on it today, its not nice to look at all!!

im looking at another way of doing it, i could quite easily make a circuit board up and soldier it to the board but i would rather make them removable.

as soon as i get a suitable fix, i will put up some pictures.

shaun.

Those are not a cheaper alternative... they are simply Volvo genuine parts but higher priced than retail.

Part number 30618290
Price on that link = £3.66 each plus postage (I checked, its £3.43 postage there for 3x bulbs)
Volvo retail price = £3.48 each.
Discounted price at FRF = £2.44 each (that is 30% off the retail price). Plus postage if required (£1.85 for these 3 bulbs, 1st class recorded)

For Mail Order genuine Volvo parts please keep us in mind at FRF Volvo in Swansea, I know many VOC users have already purchased sets of these bulbs from us over the years, many after seeing this very thread.

Please remember to mention discount code 'C3' when calling us for quotes so we know you are a Volvo Owners Club user and get these heavily discounted best prices.

I hope that helps,

Simon

I had good fun playing with led's and trying to find something bright enough.

in the end i gave up, i did buy these from maplins via ebay they work well, wish i had put the blue caps on them.

im still looking for 12v white super bright LED's (with resistors built in)

EDIT: i have found these on ebay. i have ordered a 20 pack. I will post up pictures when its done, and i will sell the rest of the bulbs

(btw i have only done the heating controls)
